State of the art work environments on the campus of the Technical University of Munich.
Meet the CPA
An agile working environment for people and proteins in the Center for Functional Protein Assemblies (CPA) at the Technical University of Munich.
Challenge
The challenge was to combine sensitive laboratories, an open foyer and evaluation zones with the office and coworking areas to create a lively working environment for internal university operations. Intermediate areas of short and long stay had to be combined with representative functional areas. The building construction was realised by the office Carpus&Partner, the interior fittings by ACTINCOMMON.
Process
Together with professors and students, we carried out a “work + use” analysis, which revealed the different requirements for work and spontaneous exchange. Highly sensitive laboratories with corresponding security requirements had to be coordinated with spontaneous meeting areas. We developed an interior programme over four floors for research, office work and public exchange. A cafeteria and conference/seminar rooms complete the interior.
Impact
The CPA is part of a large construction project at the Garching campus of the Technical University of Munich. As an integrative research centre it offers space for more than 200 researchers whose work is related to the complexity protein interaction and their functions in life. The newly created working environment supports these researchers in a modern and diverse manner.
